Kapeng Barako is the infamous Batangueño coffee. Barako is a Filipino term for the male stud of an animal breed, which has come to be associated with the image of a tough man. This coffee lives up to its name! Grown mainly from the rich soil of Batangas, these coffee beans have the largest beans and leaves of all the coffee varieties. It contains a strong rich flavor and a distinct pungent aroma that is sure to wake you up! Although abundant in the Philippines, it is uncommon in most parts of the world. A favorite among Taaleños, Kapeng Barako is perfect in the morning, during merienda, or given as pasalubong (a small gift).
