Raul I. Goco

Retired Ambassador Raul Goco comes from a true Taaleño family of high intelligence, integrity, honesty, and passion. He is the son of Juan Diamompo Goco, who was Treasurer of the Revolutionary Movement in Batangas. Raul Goco was a celebrated law practitioner before being appointed Solicitor General in 1994. He is known as one of the country’s best known legal luminaries. In 1996, he was appointed by President Ramos and sent to Ottawa, Canada to serve as Ambassador of the Philippines. Also during Ramos’s Presidency, Raul became the only Filipino ever to hold a post out of the thirty-four Jurists of the United Nations International Law Commission. He married Marietta, who became one of President Ramos’s trusted Cabinet members. Their daughter, Cipriano P. Primicias, was the late Senate Majority Floor Leader. Their son Robby is a top chef with a prestigious culinary arts background, who established the CYMA Restaurant chain.
